elsa rimbod

This week’s chosen artist is Elsa Rimbod from Annecy, France. You can find her work on Tumblr, Instagram, Twitter and her website

Here's a little about Elsa:

1. When did you become an X-Phile?

I became an X-Phile when I was a child. I was born in 1989 and I remember watching X-Files at a very young age. My older brother loved the show so I watched it with him. I was about 5 when I first saw an episode. I remember being really scared but I loved and still love to watch the show. So I guess I became an X-Phile back then.

2. What is the first episode you watched?

I don’t remember the very first episode I watched. I know it was one from the first season because in France the show began to air in 1994 and I was 5. Maybe it was the pilot episode.

3. What are you looking forward to seeing in the revival?

In the revival, I’m not looking forward to seeing anything in particular. Just to be immersed in the series universe again with this great duo.

4. What inspired you to draw X-Files?

Well, I watch a lot of shows and I like to make some fanart on them. Of course, X-Files is one of my favorite shows so I wanted to draw some pieces on it, and particularly a Scully piece. I really love her character. Now I want to draw more about The X-Files but I have to find some time to do it.. and unfortunately it’s quite difficult to find some!

5. Who is your favorite character?

My favorite character is Scully. I had a huge crush on her as a child. Growing up, when I re-watched the show, I loved her badass side. Also the fact that she’s a strong female character. This kind of role for a woman was so rare back then, it was refreshing and inspiring.

6. List your top 5 episodes.

Tricky one. There are such great episodes.. here some of my favorite in no particular order: "Home", "X-Cops", "Pilot", "Ice", and "Squeeze".

7. Favorite X-Files quote.

I don’t have a favorite X-Files quote, but I love the funny Mulder/Scully exchanges - Mulder being particularly quick at repartee.

8. How has The X-Files impacted your life?

The X-Files was the really first show I watched, so I guess it introduced me to the concept of series, the suspense between episodes, and to follow some characters every week in their adventures, being attached to them. But when I think about The X-Files, I have some kind of nostalgia feeling. It’s like the first cartoon you watched, I don’t know. It reminds me of all the rituals my brother and I had on Friday nights. It’s kind of sweet memories. Maybe The X-Files impacted me in that way: to have the chance to share quality time on Friday nights with my brother.

Thanks, Elsa! Come back next Wednesday for a new artist!
