Roxane Lys

It's FanArt Wednesday again! This week’s chosen artist is Roxane Lys, AKA Goldfish in the Phile world. She is an art teacher from Bordeaux, France. You can connect with Roxane on DeviantArt, Twitter and Facebook.

Here's a little about Roxane:

1. When did you become an X-Phile?

I became a Phile at 11 years old, right after the first episode I watched.

2. What is the first episode you watched?

The very first episode I watched was Colony (I think). I was 8 years old and I wasn’t supposed to watch, I was at a boring dinner at someone’s place and XF was in the background. I couldn’t watch the entire episode but the few things I could see marked me deeply. I had to wait until I was 11 years old to really watch my first episode. It was Tempus Fugit. I can remember it like it was yesterday, my grandmother was next to me, terrified and I was in awe!

3. What are you looking forward to seeing in the revival?

Mysteries, monsters and sexual tension!

4. What inspired you to draw X-Files?

When I love things I have to draw them. I can’t draw things that I don’t like. The X-Files is a great inspiration on many domains: mysteries of life, love... I'm mostly inspired by the strong bond between Mulder and Scully.

5. Who is your favorite character?

Scully, because she’s a strong, intelligent and independent woman… she’s my role model

6. List your top 5 episodes.

In no particular order:

The Sixth Extinction
War of the coprophages
Syzygy
Closure
Bad Blood

7. Favorite X-Files quote.

“That the dead are not lost to us. That they speak to us as part of something greater than us—greater than any alien force. And if you and I are powerless now, I want to believe that if we listen to what's speaking, it can give us the power to save ourselves."

8. How has The X-Files impacted your life?

The X-Files has had a lot of importance during my adolescence and my 20s. It helped me gain self confidence during my adolescence and opened my mind up to life mysteries and paranormal things. During my 20s I founded X-Files Memories a French website (I’m Goldfish in the XF world). I’ve met a lot of great people out there. We’ve had amazing experiences like the giant meet-up we had in Paris during I Want to Believe or traveling to London, Belgium and parts of France. I’ve also been able to help charity causes with Doodle4NF and heARTforcharity (I co-funded heARTforCharity with Sophie). These experiences allowed me to meet a lot of great artists, philes and close friends from all around the world. The show has turned into a life experience.

Thanks, Roxane! Come back next Wednesday for a new artist!
