Many of you have approached us wondering, "what's up with having two X-Files rewatches?"
In case you didn't notice, XFN and many other groups around the world planned to start their X-Files rewatch according to the publicized X-Files Reverb Press' rewatch calendar. This calendar included not only the 202 episodes of the show (since "The Truth" is actually two episodes) but also the franchise's two movies (The X-Files: Fight The Future and The X-Files: I Want To Believe). On June 24th, we announced The X-Files Global Rewatch, introducing our XFN Calendar to inform the X-Phile community not only of the general rewatch dates, but also of those with planned live-tweeting sessions, hosted by known Fan Personalities and our own staff. This rewatch started running on July 4th, 2015.
On July 7th, FOX announced their own invitation to rewatch the show. Their timeline won't observe the viewing of the movies, and currently doesn't offer assisted live-tweeting sessions by their staff for the fans or a dynamic calendar that you can check to keep track. It does provide for promotion and activity that we can't disregard, as it is our objective to inform you of all the things X-Files out there and support initiatives benefitial to the franchise.
So it is in the spirit of keeping an unified communication for all the fandom, that we will adapt our previously arranged rewatch calendar, starting in August. We will observe three black out dates - [highlight class="green"]Aug. 1st., 2nd., and 3rd. and coming back on Aug. 4th[/highlight] - to allow for FOX's timeline to synch with ours. Come the time, we will include special sessions to allow for the observance of the rewatch of The X-Files: Fight The Future and The X-Files: I Want To Believe. It is our belief that these movies are pivotal to the plot of The X-Files, and should not be excluded from any rewatch plans.
